Confirm a Tippah Jail Release
No official online current roster, release feed, or booking-photo gallery was located on the Tippah County sheriff site. Request a Tippah Jail Bookout
A focused request should seek the booking sheet, jail-docket entry, booking number, booking and bookout timestamps, release type or authority, destination if transferred, bond or court-release data, nonexempt hold dispositions, and related court or case number. Ask for an electronic copy, a fee estimate, and segregable nonexempt portions. A booking photograph can be requested separately when needed for identity confirmation.
Mississippi's Public Records Act allows reasonable written procedures. If no procedure exists, access is generally due within one working day. A procedure cannot authorize production or denial later than seven working days. Tippah Jail Bookout Record Fields
The July 2023 historical current-inmate printout is not a release list, but it documents the county jail-system schema. Fields include name, ID, sex and race, age, bond, booking date and time, placement, arresting agency, Bookout Date, Time Served, booking number, warrant number, charge description, offense status, per-charge bond, court, court date, charge type, and bond status. Bookout Date is mostly blank because the report shows people still in custody.
Each field has limits. Booking Date is entry into the record, not conviction. Bookout Date ends the recorded jail stay but needs reason and destination. Time Served may be elapsed custody rather than a judge's release reason. A bond value or charge status does not prove payment, approval, or physical release. Court Date is a scheduled event, not a release date.
Request the entire booking rather than one charge row. Placement describes the assigned jail unit. Arresting Agency can differ from the sheriff as custodian. Warrant Number and Court help route follow-up. These details make the record useful without turning a field into a claim it cannot support.
If the destination is MDOC, search the state inmate system by exact name or identifier and compare date of birth and current unit. Intake may not appear at once. If an immigration detainer is named, use ICE's current detainee locator and agency confirmation. A federal transfer may require federal court or U.S. Marshals records, followed by the BOP locator if BOP custody exists.

Which Tippah Jail Is Current?
The former Tippah County Jail at 200 West Spring Street was built in 1938 and is a Mississippi Landmark associated with the Ripley Historic District. It stands near the current law-enforcement center, which can cause address confusion. The historic building is not today's release desk and is not an active custody-record source.
Current records requests and release questions belong at the Sheriff's Office at 205 West Spring Street. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History property record documents the former jail's historic status. That source provides useful orientation but no current inmate or bookout data.
