Tippah County VINE Coverage
Mississippi names its service Mississippi Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification, or Mississippi SAVIN/VINE. It tracks data sent by participating county jails and MDOC. State law authorizes automated status reports and notices for events such as transfer, temporary or other release, discharge, return to custody, and escape. Tippah County availability must still be checked in the live jurisdiction interface because participation and individual events depend on the supplying system.
VINE is a custody-status and notification service. It is not a court disposition archive. A status reported as released or out of custody means the source system sent that status. It does not prove that every hold ended, that the person entered the community, or that supervision is complete. A Tippah County Jail bookout could lead to MDOC, another county, or another agency.

Search a Tippah Inmate on VINE
Start at VINELink and select Mississippi. Search one person by exact name and use an offender or agency identifier when the live form accepts it. Never choose a result by name alone. Compare date of birth or age, source facility, status, and any other identifiers the current result supplies.
- Open VINELink and select Mississippi as the jurisdiction.

- Enter the exact first and last name. Add the known identifier when offered.
- Compare age or date of birth, facility, and source before opening a match.
- Read the current status and event wording. Then confirm the result with the Tippah County Sheriff or MDOC.
Multiple matches require care. A current MDOC record concerns state custody, while a Tippah jail result concerns the county booking. Tippah VINE Release Record Fields
Fields vary by agency and current interface. A result usually identifies the person, status, and reporting facility, but no field should be promised unless it appears on the live Tippah or MDOC result. A scheduled sentence date is also different from a reported release event.

A released result should be paired with the sheriff's exact bookout date, time, reason, and destination when Tippah County Jail supplied the record. For MDOC, seek the actual release or discharge record. A VINE event is not a court order and does not prove why custody changed.
Register for Tippah Release Alerts
Registration begins from the correctly matched in-custody record. Use the live Register or Notify Me control, then select the phone, text, or email channel currently offered. Registration can be anonymous. Do not put another person's contact details into the form without authorization.

Automated events can arrive more than once when several systems update. Preserve the event time and source, then ask the reporting agency what changed.
When Tippah Bookout Means Transfer
Mississippi SAVIN's Registration Link is a key local safeguard. It can carry a county registration into MDOC or another custody system. That matters in Tippah County because leaving the county jail may be a transfer rather than a community release. A person could be booked out to MDOC after sentencing, moved to another county on a hold, or delivered to another agency.
Read the notice verbatim. A transfer, other-custody, or unit-move event should not be rewritten as release from all custody. Call the source jail and ask for receiving agency and bookout timestamp. Then search the receiving system. Linked registration can maintain the notification trail, but it does not replace those records.
Important: “Released from Tippah custody” describes one custodian's action. It does not always mean the person entered the community.
Interpret Tippah VINE Custody Events
A release notice can arrive while family cannot reach the person. Begin with the exact event, reporting facility, and time. Mississippi SAVIN can carry several kinds of custody change, so “release” in ordinary speech may hide a transfer or linked registration. Call SAVIN support and the Tippah County Jail. Ask whether the person entered the community or was delivered to a named custodian. Do not infer an exit, ride, pickup site, or arrival time because Tippah publishes none of those details.
If MDOC Inmate Search no longer displays the person, check the separate MDOC Parolee Search. A parolee match supports conditional community status, but it does not show that the full sentence has ended. If both searches are empty, request central discharge information. Active public searches are not guaranteed archives of every past custody or supervision record.
A court record can explain legal authority but not physical processing. A dismissal or bond order for one charge may coexist with another hold. The sheriff's whole-booking record should show the exact bookout and destination. Conversely, a sheriff bookout proves Tippah custody ended but may not explain the court ruling. Pair both.

Systems Outside Tippah VINE
The Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator covers federal inmates generally from 1982 forward. It can show a release date and a location of RELEASED, but that means the person is no longer in BOP custody. Federal supervised release or another agency's custody may continue. Federal pretrial and transport matters can also involve the U.S. Marshals Service, which has no broad historical release locator like BOP.
ICE's Online Detainee Locator uses an A-number and country of birth or an exact name, country, and date of birth. It is mainly a current-detention tool, not a historical release archive. No ICE result does not prove community release. When the sheriff identifies an immigration transfer, confirm with the appropriate immigration office.
These distinctions prevent a common error. A person absent from Mississippi VINE may be held by a federal source, may have left an active search, or may not match the spelling used. Use the source tied to the confirmed destination rather than broadening a VINE result beyond its scope.
The Mississippi Sex Offender Registry is also outside the general VINE function. It can show a photograph, aliases, residence, conviction date, and offense for a qualifying registrant. Arrest alone does not trigger registration, and a registry result does not prove a jail-release date. Use it only when the person's legal registration status makes that source relevant.
For old or completed cases, court and agency records are usually stronger than a live notification screen. Tippah Circuit Clerk maintains Circuit Court criminal papers and judgments. Justice Court or a municipal clerk may hold the controlling order for its own case. The sheriff bookout then establishes the physical end of the county stay. VINE connects events as they are reported, but those durable records explain what happened.
When registering, keep the confirmation private. A phone number, email address, PIN, text code, and registration confirmation are not public record-search data. If a destination changes or an alert seems wrong, use SAVIN support to correct registration details and independently contact the source agency. Do not expose private notification information in screenshots or shared messages.
Tippah VINE Limits and Confirmation
VINE depends on agency booking-system updates, so notices can lag, repeat, or use event terms that need context. A missing result is also inconclusive. The person may be in a nonparticipating source, under a different spelling, moving between systems, discharged from an active-search view, or outside VINE's coverage.
Federal custody requires the Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or federal court records. The BOP system is separate and is not covered by VINELink. Immigration custody requires ICE's locator and agency confirmation. The Mississippi Sex Offender Registry is another separate system only for qualifying registrants; it is not a general release list.
